RS-1 is chemical product that stabilizes and renders benign a wide variety of metals, (such as copper, Chrome-VI or hexavalent chrome, nickel, zinc, lead and arsenic, to name a few) found in acid mine water, and also often found with other contaminants in water, soil, and sludge.
The chemical has been extensively tested in the U.S. and China and passed every test, including the US EPA TCLP test for leachability of trapped metals in the remaining sludge, thus yielding a non-hazardous waste. The following six slides show this action in progress
Start with a low level contaminated plating plant waste stream Plating Plant Low Level Combined Waste, untreated
900ml of Untreated Waste with Ferric pre-treat added
900ml of waste with only 1.5 grams of RS-1 added & stirred (that’s only a 0.16% add ratio by weight!)
900ml of waste with 1.5 grams of RS-1 Added, flock within 30 seconds
900ml of waste with RS-1 at just under 1 minute
900ml of Plating Plant Waste Water with RS-1 after 5 minutes.
